EPISODE 30 – THE CHURCHES OF PHILADELPHIA, PART 2

The 30th episode of St. Luke’s Gallery is actually a follow-up to a previous one, focused on the sacred architecture and art of Philadelphia’s Catholic Churches. In this part 2, I share some of the Churches that were not in part 1. Due to a dispute with YouTube, videos going forward will be linked to alternate sources. EPISODE 29 – CORONATION OF THE VIRGIN

We meditate upon the traditional Eastertide prayer, the Regina Coeli, with Velazquez’s masterpiece, The Coronation of the Virgin.

EPISODE 28 – THE ANGELUS

Recorded on the Feast of the Annunciation 2024, this episode focus on Jean-François Millet’s The Angelus from 1857.

EPISODE 27 – ADORATION OF THE MAGI

Recorded on the 6th of January – Feast of the Epiphany – we study The Adoration of the Magi by the 19th Century Portuguese painter, Domingos Sequeira.

EPISODE 26 – ST. NICHOLAS

Recorded on December 6th 2023, this episode takes a look at St. Nicholas (not Santa Claus) on his feast day with his life depicted in some fine examples of sacred art.

EPISODE 25 – A STUDY OF TWO CHICAGO CHURCHES

In this, the 25th episode of St. Luke’s Gallery, we study two churches in Chicago: one offering an incredible holistic sacred experience and the other, the exact opposite following a tragic modernist renovation in the late 1960s.

A run-in with a blasphemous mural on the side of a Catholic school in my neighborhood has inspired me to put together this episode, featuring some beautiful and inspiring images of Our Blessed Mother in sacred art.

EPISODE 21 – THE CHURCHES OF PHILADELPHIA

Up until now, St. Luke’s Gallery has focused primarily on sacred paintings and icons. In this 21st episode however, we’ll take a more holistic look at some of Philadelphia’s Churches to appreciate the beauty of the exterior, as well as the interior architecture and features.
